Early 2nd Round
William Beatty
| OT | Connecticut | Senior |
| 6'6" | 307 lbs | 40: 5.12 sec |
| Strengths: | Prototypical size for a left tackle. Has outstanding footowork and displays consistent athleticism. A true finesse blocker. Does a good job getting to the 2nd level to make the block. High football IQ and understand where the blitz is coming from. Still has a tremendous amount of potential and has room to grow as a player and on his frame. Natural knee bender. |
| Weaknesses: | Has trouble with strong pass rushers. Needs to get stronger. Run blocking needs work and doesn't play with the physicality you'd like to see from a lineman. Needs to work on overall technique but has the room to develop. |
| Quick Hits: | Three year starter in the Big East. High character guy with no off field issues. Will develop greatly from an NFL weight training program and NFL coaching. First team All-Big East in 2008. Performed well at the Senior Bowl, handling multiple talented pass rushers in drills and in the game. If Beatty is drafted into the right system, he could certainly wind up being one of the better tackle prospects in the draft, at a 2nd round price. |
