First Round
Michael Oher
| OT | Ole Miss | Senior |
| 6'4" | 309 lbs | 40: 5.19 sec |
| Strengths: | Outstanding pass blocker. Oher has great natural ability and uses it to his advantage. Shows great footwork and lateral movement. Keeps his body balanced while taking on the rusher. Has prototypical build for a left tackle. Has good lower body strength and gets a good initial push at the line of scrimmage in run blocking. Locks onto pass rushers and eliminates them from the play. Can move well and get to the next level on blocks. Developed a bit of a mean streak. Has shown durability throughout his college career. |
| Weaknesses: | May rely on natural ability too much at times. Can get high in his blocks, allowing the defender to get underneath him. Sometimes Has room for improvement in his run blocking. A bit raw, Oher just started playing football late in high school. Needs to learn to use his hands better. |
| Quick Hits: | An amazing life story, Oher overcame living on the streets with a drug addicted mother. Oher's life is the story behind the book "The Blind Side." Oher also played basketball at Ole Miss. A four year starter in the SEC, starting at Guard is freshman year. Durability is not a concern as he never missed a game due to injury. Oher is a very quiet person and has overcome a lot in his life. Immense potential as a left tackle prospect in the NFL, he could end up being a main stay on the Pro-Bowl roster. Initially decided to leave Ole Miss after his junior season and enter the draft, but changed his mind, returning for his senior year. Staying the extra year helped his draft stock, and Oher competed well at the Senior Bowl, improving his stock even more. |
