| Strengths: |
An aggressive safety that loves contact. Likes to make the big hit and seems to always be in the pile on tackles. Does a great job of reading the quarterback's eyes and jumping routes. Has adequate range in coverage but excells in run support. Quickly diagnoses plays and flies to the ball carrier. Matches up well against most tight ends and can cover a variety of receivers. Can potentially line up as a free or strong safety at the next level. In college, showed the speed necessary to chase down plays from the other side of the field. Though he's best in run support, seems to be a complete package and should fit in well with most NFL teams. |
| Weaknesses: |
Can be over aggressive at times. Tackling fundamentals can break down when going for big hit and lead to missed opportunities. Has a tendency to take poor angles. Has trouble shedding blocks at times against stronger blockers. Needs to get stronger. A risk taker who can guess and be burned for it. Inconsistent motor at times and has given up when play seemed out of reach. |
| Quick Hits: |
Four year starter in the MAC and 2008 First Team All-MAC selection. Led the entire Western Michigan defense in tackles for the 2008 season. Could potentially be the first safety taken in the draft, but still needs to develop. Reminds me a bit of Brian Dawkins: a hitter that may be better in run support than coverage and has a tendency to miss tackles going for the knockout blow.
