| Strengths: |
Freeman is a really, really, big QB with great size and bulk. For his size and position, Freeman is much more athletic than you would think. He has a live arm and can make all of the throws. He leads well on the short/intermediate throws as well as the deep throws most of the time. He may be the most talented QB in the draft, but he just needs more time to harness his ability. He put Kansas State on his back ever since he showed up and without him, these last few years might have been dreadful. He prides himself on his ability to extend the play in the pocket. |
| Weaknesses: |
Freeman is a streaky passer and will go on hot and cold streaks as a passer. A little inconsistent and some NFL scouts wonder that if he couldn’t win in college, then why would he in the NFL? But this is partly due to a team that lacked talent and depth. Footwork could use some work, but his drop backs seem fine. His feet can look like bricks in the pocket if he gets comfortable. Despite all of his experience, he will need time to learn how to call audibles and read an NFL defense. |
| Quick Hits: |
He has compared himself to Ben Roethlisburger and Donovan McNabb because of his ability to extend the play and remain a pocket passer. Freeman is a gifted QB, but he has yet to put all of his tools to good use. He started 3 years, and came in to K-State as the starter. It was probably smart of him to come out early because he has the experience, but just needs better coaching and time in an NFL system. Freeman will be 21 years old when the 2009 season starts. He majored in Social Sciences at Kansas State. He owns the career passing yards record at Kansas State. Freeman has big time upside, but also a huge bust factor.
