Draft Breakdown v2.0

Top 5
Jason Smith
OT Baylor Senior
6'5" 309 lbs 40: 5.22 sec
Strengths: Good size and muscle definition. A very good athlete and he looks very fluid with his footwork. His feet are very quick. He uses his arms to keep defenders at bay and as soon as his hands are on a defender, it is rare that they will get to the Quarterback. Smith is a fantastic pass-blocker and a better run-blocker than he gets credit for. He is a good, natural knee bender. A real student of the game. Terrific upside and he has all the tools to be a franchise left tackle.
Weaknesses: He is a little lighter than you would like, but he isn’t too small that he couldn’t play immediately. He played in a spread offense and will take time to adjust to a pro style offense. He is a little raw in his technique because of the offense he played in, but he is smart enough to pick it up quickly. He will start right away, but he needs to show he can handle the bull rush a little better and after a year in an NFL training program he should be fine. Took a lot of snaps from a 2 point stance, and needs to work on playing most snaps from a 3 point stance.
Quick Hits: Smith came to Baylor as a Tight End. He was a 4-year starter after red-shirting his true freshman year and he tallied 38 career starts. He was the first Baylor non-special teams player to earn All-American honors in over 13 years.
