Draft Breakdown v2.0

Late 1st/Early 2nd Round

Hakeem Nicks
WR North Carolina Junior
6'0" 212 lbs 40: 4.50 sec
Strengths: Average size for a receiver, but good bulk. Great hands and rarely drops a ball, showing the strong hands you look for when being contested for the ball as well as soft hands to bring in the ball without it ricocheting off his hands. Runs solid routes and seemed to get wide open at times. Finds the hole in the zone well. Physical and will run guys over. Broke a lot of tackles in college. Shows good concentration. Very productive even though he had a bunch of solid wide outs around him to take some catches away from him.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t look very fluid as an athlete. Not very elusive. Lacks explosiveness coming out of his breaks and could have problems with getting separation at the next level.
Quick Hits: Typical possession receiver with a limited ceiling but also very low bust potential. He could disappoint those that expect him to be a superstar, but those expecting a solid, reliable target that will produce starter numbers will be happy. Was a 3 year starter in the ACC. Holds 3 of the major receiving records at UNC with the most career receptions (181), most career TD’s (21), and most receiving TD’s in a season (12). Was named to an All-ACC team in 2007 and 2008 (Rivals and AP respectively).
