| Strengths: |
Might be the best "pure" pass rusher in the 2009 draft class. Brown has a fantastic first step and does a good job anticipating the snap count. Shows quickness off the edge as a speed rusher but can also rush inside. Has a wide array of pass rushing moves. Has the speed and quickness to get into the backfield and make a play. Is able to chase down the play from behind. Shows solid body control and change of direction skills. More than adequate strength in the upper and lower body. Has versatility to line up at multiple positions. Terrific production in his junior season and spent a lot of time in opposing teams backfields. A high character player with no off-field issues. Brown is also a locker room leader. |
| Weaknesses: |
Like many college pass rushers, Brown needs to improve against the run. Has trouble getting off the blocker on running plays. Doesn't have ideal size for a defensive end and may have to be a 3-4 OLB in the pros. Has very little experience dropping into coverage. Was used mainly as a pass rusher at Florida State. Limited starting experience. |
| Quick Hits: |
Florida State hasn't produced a solid pass rusher in some time and Brown is hoping to break that trend. Brown didn't start until his junior season but was very productive during that season. First team All-ACC in his junior season. 2nd in Florida State history with 46.5 tackles for loss. A terrific pass rusher who has a lot of upside in the NFL, but will need to further develop his game to become well rounded. Best fit will be as an OLB in a 3-4 defense due to his size and rush defense skills.
