Top 5
Eugene Monroe
| OT | Virginia | Senior |
| 6'5" | 309 lbs | 40: 5.23 sec |
| Strengths: | An athletic left tackle for the Cavaliers, Monroe is the next in line in the recent surge of top Virginia offensive lineman. In the last few years, players like D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Brandon Albert have been selected in the top 15 of the NFL draft. A nimble offensive tackle with long arms (34 in.), Monroe is the prototypical left tackle. He has great balance with good footwork and he rarely gets knocked off balance by the bull rush. A smart player that understands his assignments. Eugene is a technician and a superb pass blocker. He holds his blocks for as long as he can in the run game and doesn't have a problem getting to the second level to help spring a running back. Eugene can hold his own when facing pass rushers with solid pass rush moves and he has quick, strong hands. |
| Weaknesses: | Monroe isn't a mauler and he leaves something to be desired in the run game, but he has the natural ability to overcome this. Missed a lot of time with injuries and this could be a problem. Shorter defenders can get under him and use leverage to get by him. May not be a natural knee bender and can play too high at times. |
| Quick Hits: | A top recruit coming out of high school, Monroe was a 5 star player according to Scout and Rivals. He played the last 25 games of his career without allowing a single sack. He is one of 16 children, 11 of which are boys. A sociology major. |
