QB RB FB WR TE OT OG C DE DT OLB ILB CB S K P

1st Round

Darius Butler
CB Connecticut Senior
5'10" 183 lbs 40: 4.53 sec
Strengths: Solid in man coverage. Butler can turn and run with ease. Flips hips well and stays fluid in coverage. Outstanding vertical leap ability. Does a good job reading the play and reacting in the run game. Solid instincts as a cover a corner. Reliable tackler. Great burst and gets to the ball in a hurry. Explosive and a play maker. Played some wide receiver to take advantage of his explosiveness in his senior year. Football is in his blood.
Weaknesses: Plays too far off in off-man coverage. Not a lot of lower body strength and is a bit thin. Tackling, while reliable, isn't the most fundamentally form. A bit of a gambler, Butler will take risks. Had some injuries throughout his career.
Quick Hits: Butler was a 4 year starter in the Big East. Had an outstanding performance at the Senior Bowl, brining him back to the attention of the scouts. Knee injury forced him to miss a few games his senior season but showed at the Senior Bowl he is healthy and ready to play. Cousin of Ravens RB Willis McGahee, nephew of former NFL player Gene Atkins. A solid overall performer, Butler has the skill and swagger of a pro-bowl caliber corner in the NFL.
